Abstract : To prove the efficacy of Trichoderma species in control of reniform nematode, Rotylenchulus remformis , root-knot nematode, and Meloidogyne javanica were studied In-Vitro and under greenhouse conditions. The effect of culture filtrate of Trichoderma harzianum, T.viride , T.koningii , T.reesei and T. hamutum in controlling both nematode genera were studied In-Vitro in 14 cm Petri-dishes during one weak exposure and under greenhouse conditions on eggplant seedlings in plastic pots containing sandy-loam soil (1:1, V/V). All culture filtrates of Trichoderma species were found to be significantly effective in controlling both nematode genera on eggplant .Trichoderma harzianum, T.hamatum and T.koningii gave a significant reduction In-Vitro and greatly decreased the females and egg-masses of reniform and root-knot nematodes in pots. Trichoderma species led to inhibit the nematode activity and movements In-Vitro during one-week exposure. However, Trichoderma culture filtrate was greatly effective on root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica eggs, than on larvae. In the second part of the present investigation was undertaken with an aim to study the effect of some fungal bioagents as cultural filtrates and spore suspension against root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica infecting eggplant. Aspergillus ochrachus, A. flavus, A. parasiticus and Penicillium chrysogenum were tested as biocontrol agent and compared with Trichoderma harzianum and T. hamatum. In-vitro studies showed that all fungus cultural filtrates were highly effective on root-knot juvenile activity and movement after 48 hours exposure , exhibiting 100% of root-knot nematode larvae. Penicillium chrysogenum and Aspergillus parasiticus culture filtrates were found to be highly effective in reducing the total number of galls, immature stages, mature females and egg-masses on eggplant. In the second experiment, the spore suspension of all examined fungus was found to be highly effective in reducing the total number of galls, mature females and egg-masses on root and the total number of nematodes in soil. Trichoderma harzianum was found to be highly effective in reducing the root-knot nematode population both in root and soil followed by Aspergillus ochrachus (two isolates) comparing with untreated eggplant (check) followed by A. flavus isolate No. 26 and A. parasiticus isolate No 29. The role of Trichoderma in control of both nematode genera into direct effect is either by toxic metabolites and inhibit nematode penetration and developments and effect on nematode eggs or by analysis of chitenase metabolite. It is clear that un-parasitic nematodes in soil were less effected by most fungi treatments. A.. flavus isolate No 15 was found to be the most effective one on free living nematodes in soil followed by A. parasiticus isolate No. 7 and T. harzianum without significant differences with P. chrysogenum. It was noticed that eggplants which received Trichoderma treatments were healthier than untreated ones.
